The 2024 IATP Conference & Trade Show was an exciting gathering of the adventure and trampoline park industry’s best! From September 9-11, attendees got the chance to learn, connect, and discover new ways to elevate their businesses.

With a great location and record-breaking attendance, the energy was high as park operators, vendors, and experts came together to share ideas and talk about the future of indoor family entertainment centers, trampoline parks and adventure parks. We had a blast catching up with our partners, customers, and meeting some new faces.

In this post, we’ll dive into the event highlights, key takeaways, and share how ROLLER can help venues grow in this fast-paced industry.

Event recap: A record-breaking year for IATP

Panel highlight: "The Wisest Solution for Your Park"

Our very own Alyse Sklover (Senior Manager of Events) and Greg Spittle (Head of Partnerships) hosted the interactive panel "The Wisest Solution for Your Park," which was a big hit, receiving excellent ratings in the show survey.

What made this session stand out was the level of audience participation. Rather than just offering advice, attendees shared their own challenges and solutions, especially around selecting tech partners and making the most of them. It created a real sense of community as everyone– even competitors– were eager to help each other out and share best practices to solve common problems.

This collaborative spirit was a theme throughout the event, with discussions bringing to light how many challenges, from tech partnerships to day-to-day operations, can be solved by tapping into the collective wisdom of the industry.

Industry challenges and opportunities

Throughout the conference, vendors and operators exchanged valuable insights on topics like safety, operational efficiency, and guest services, highlighting the importance of collaboration within the industry.

Here are some common challenges we heard from operators in the adventure park, trampoline park and family entertainment center industries:

Timed experiences

Many operators struggle with guests arriving late for timed experiences, despite offering early arrival windows and sending multiple reminders. This can lead to frustrated guests and disrupt the flow for others. Some venues have shifted away from strict time slots, instead offering guests the chance to purchase blocks of time and be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, which has shown promise in reducing issues.

Membership sales

Selling memberships is another hurdle for some operators. Attendees discussed their membership packaging strategies, and after a group brainstorming session on pricing and incentives, some operators planned to implement new ideas to improve their membership sales.

Dynamic pricing

The topic of dynamic pricing sparked a conversation about its merits. Operators weighed the benefits of true dynamic pricing versus peak/low attendance pricing, exploring the best strategies to optimize revenue while managing guest expectations.
